FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
==========================
Q: I lost my password! Is there anything you can do?
A: If you have lost your password and you entered your e-mail address in
our database, go to http://www.cjb.net/password.html to retrieve your
password. If you can not retrieve your password using this form, you
will have to register a new address or wait for your existing address
to expire. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Q: There's an account that isn't being used anymore. Can I have it?
A: It is currently up to the registrant of the account to remove it when
they have finished using it, so, no, sorry. You will need to contact
the registrant or wait for the account to expire.
Q: How can I look up the registrant of a CJB.NET account?
A: To look up the registrant of a CJB.NET account or hostname, query our
WHOIS server at whois.cjb.net or access our web based WHOIS interface
at: http://www.cjb.net/cgi-bin/whois.cgi
Q: Why was my account terminated?
A: Before you get concerned, try to reregister your account. If you are
able to do so, your account simply expired. If not, your account was
most likely terminated for violating our policies. Please review our
policies at http://www.cjb.net/policies.html for more information.
Q: How does an account expire?
A: Unused accounts will expire after 90 days of inactivity. Please make
sure your CJB.NET web site address is accessed at least once every 90
days to avoid expiration.
Q: Your WHOIS says my account is going to expire! Why?
A: Actually, this is the date when your account will expire if it is not
accessed. As long as it is accessed at least once every 90 days, you
have nothing to worry about. Each day your account is accessed, this
date will be extended to 90 days from the last day it was accessed.
Q: How do I upload my web site? What is your FTP server address?
A: Please understand that CJB.NET does not actually *host* web sites, we
simply provide a short and easy-to-remember address for your existing
web site. If you need a free place to host your web site, we suggest
using Spaceports. <http://www.spaceports.com>
Q: How do I modify the HTML pages on my web site?
A: Modifications to your web site should be made with your web host. If
you are unsure as to how you can update your web site, please contact
your web hosting provider for more information.
Q: I want to change my CJB.NET address. How can I do so?
A: To change your CJB.NET address, you'll need to register a new account
with the username you would like to use for your site. Once your new
account has been created, your old account can be removed.
Q: How do I change the address to which my CJB.NET site redirects?
A: The address to which your CJB.NET site is redirected can be changed on
the Modify Account page at: http://www.cjb.net/account.html
Q: Path forwarding and subdomain forwarding aren't working!
A: In order for these options to work correctly, your site must redirect
to a directory with a trailing / on the end. For example, a redirect
to http://www.your.isp/~you/ will work correctly, while a redirect to
http://www.your.isp/~you (without the / at the end of the address) or
a specific file such as http://www.your.isp/~you/index.html would not
work with the path forwarding and subdomain forwarding features.
Q: Mail sent to me is being bounced with a 'quota exceeded' message.
A: Your local mail account includes one megabyte of storage. To prevent
bounces, make sure you remove your messages from the server after you
have finished reading them. If you are having your mail forwarded to
another location and do not need a local mail account, simply disable
the 'POP3/Web Mail' option on the Modify Account page.
Q: How do I disable the chat room or link to it from my site?
A: The chat room frame at the bottom of your site can be disabled on the
Modify Account page. If you'd like to link to your chat room instead
of using the chat frame, visit: http://chat.cjb.net/
Q: How do I link to my forum and/or guestbook?
A: If you need to retrieve the links to your forum and/or guestbook, you
may do so by logging into the Modify Account page and clicking on the
Submit Changes button. As long as the forum and/or guestbook options
are enabled, the links will appear on the confirmation page.
Q: How do I delete messages on my forum or entries in my guestbook?
A: Use the 'Delete Message' or 'Delete Thread' option on your forum, and
the 'Delete Entry' option on your guestbook. These links appear with
each message, thread, or entry.
Q: Why are there popunders on my CJB.NET site?
A: URL cloaking includes advertisements. If you would like to keep your
redirect ad free, you may order our ad removal service for only $9.95
per year. For more information, please visit the Modify Account page
and log in with the 'Remove Ads' option selected.
Q: What is the small green popup on my site?
A: The statistics feature opens a small green window to track your stats
when your site is accessed. If you'd like to remove this window, you
may disable the statistics feature on the Modify Account page.
Q: I have the statistics option enabled. How do I check my stats?
A: Click on the green bar in the statistics popup on your site.
Q: How can I break out of URL cloaking when I link to other sites?
A: If you do not want your CJB.NET address to remain in the location bar
of your browser when you link to another site, simply add target=_top
to your link tag. Example: <a target=_top href=http://other.site/>
Q: I set the URL cloaking option to 'no' but it's still enabled. Why?
A: The use of the chat and/or statistics features requires cloaking. If
you have these features enabled, cloaking will be on by default.
Q: I have several web sites. Can I have more than one CJB.NET account?
A: Yes! You can register as many accounts as you need, provided you use
them all for legitimate purposes. You may not, however, register any
accounts for the sole purpose of reselling them or preventing someone
else from registering them.
Q: Can I redirect my own .com domain through you?
A: Domain name redirection is available through www.redirection.net.
Q: Is this service really free? What do you get out of it?
A: Yes, the services we offer are free. The advertising on our main web
site and on cloaked redirects covers our expenses.
Q: I'm interested in advertising on CJB.NET.
A: Please contact advertising@cjbmanagement.com if you are interested in
advertising on CJB.NET or any of our Internet properties.
Q: Your service is great! How can I help out?
A: Thanks! Help spread the word by telling your friends and anyone else
you know that has a web site about our services. Also, check out the
services offered by our sponsors. You might just find another useful
service in the process!
Please do not hesitate to contact us at admin@cjb.net should you need to
follow up on this matter or if you have any further questions.
Thank you.
